NEPCon Impartiality and Appeals Committee
NEPCon has established a special committee with the purpose to safeguard the objectivity and impartiality of all our certification and verification activities. The committee will be involved as and when issues arise that are related to NEPCon’s impartiality in delivering our certification and verification services. Committee also fulfils the function of body of appeal.
The committee is composed of three individuals, external to NEPCon, who represent various stakeholder interests and who each has an excellent basis for understanding the context in which NEPCon operates. The Committee consists of the following members:
Angel Llavero Cruz, Responsible Purchasing Coordinator, GFTN
Mr. Llavero is the Responsible Purchasing Coordinator of WWF’s Global Forest and Trade Network. He has more than 10 years of experience in the areas of environmental economics, corporate social responsibility and responsible sourcing of forest products. His experience has included assisting large corporate users of forest products –such as retailers and consumer goods companies– to develop and implement policies and actions on responsible sourcing of forest products.
Neil Judd, Director of ProForest
Mr. Judd has spent the last eighteen years working with environmental certification and responsible management of natural resources. He has extensive experience of delivering practical solutions to sustainability requirements, specialising in audit and certification, supply chain control and best management practices, in an extremely wide range of tropical and temperate settings. His experience has included management of the largest global forest certification programme, and a leading role in the development of sustainable oil palm. Neil Judd is a co-founder and director of Proforest.
Ms. Butler has been working in the sustainability field for approximately fifteen years. After graduation from London University she started working life in the public sector at both local and regional government working on sustainability policies and programs including funding bids from various sources such as the EU. Rachel Butler moved to the private sector and has now been in the timber trade for over 10 years. Her specialties include the international timber trade, forestry, standards and certification. She sits on the Reference Board for the UK Government’s Central Point of Expertise on Timber and also advises the EU Commission and UK Government on international trade and forestry matters. |
