LegalSource Gap Analysis helps you transition to the EU Timber Regulation

If you are an importer of timber or paper products into the EU, you need to take action to make sure that you comply with the EU Timber Regulation by 3 March 2013.

You should be especially aware of the need for supply chain screening and identification of any risk that illegal timber might find its way into any of your supplies. If you discover risk, then you need to take appropriate action to mitigate it.

The amount of work that you need to do depends on several factors, such as the complexity of your supply chain, the actual products you are sourcing, and the areas you are sourcing from.

Use the Gap Analysis tool to get started

You will benefit from mapping out your supply chain and analyse whether the information and assurance documentation currently provided by your suppliers match the needs, once the EU regulation comes into force. Our LegalSource Gap Analysis tool helps you do just that.

“Our tool offers a user-friendly analytical framework for those who need to start looking into their supply chain and get an overview of where they need to require additional information and assurance from the suppliers”, explains Verification Services Manager Christian Sloth.

How the Gap Analysis works

The Gap Analysis concept is a tool for self-evaluation, where you assess the risk associated with different parts of your supply chain and determine which actions you need to take in order to address a perceived risk. Based on our expertise, NEPCon then provides third-party quality check of the evaluation and the proposed actions. With the resulting Gap Analysis report, you can be assured that you are on the right track with their efforts to meet the regulation. The report provides a good basis for developing a targeted action plan. As an optional service, we can offer assistance with this as well.

The Gap Analysis takes place in the following stages:
