Expertise and technical assistance

NEPCon has a track record of more than 12 years working with international donor-financed projects related to natural resources management.

Our projects have resulted in the establishment of more than 100 protected areas and the development of 70+ management plans for natural areas. Our projects are funded by international donors such as the World Bank and the EU, national agencies, and foundations.

We work with public agencies, NGOs as well as business organizations. Collaborating closely with local experts and communities, we focus on achieving tangible results that are likely to make a positive difference for local people and the environment in the long term. Our goal is to conduct technical assistance assignments at a high professional level in order to achieve the best results possible in the given context.

Fields of expertise

Our core expertise areas are:

  • Sustainable forest management
  • Certification of forests and wood industry
  • Illegal logging and the FLEGT process
  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Implementation of the EU Natura 2000 network
  • Sustainable utilization of non-timber forest products
  • Awareness raising and capacity building
  • Support to NGOs and local communities

We provide assistance within project development, implementation, and evaluation. We also perform research and analyses within our core expertise areas, including for example sectoral and policy analyses regarding certification schemes, illegal logging and the FLEGT process, market analyses for certified wood products, inputs to the development of procurement policies, and environmental impact assessments.

Integrity, accountability, and quality of work are important aspects which we consider continuously throughout an assignment, based on internal quality assurance and monitoring procedures.
