more about FSC

Forest Stewardship Council - the mark of responsible forestry

One of the distinguishing marks of FSC certification is that it involves all stakeholders in a balanced way. FSC is organized in three equally influential chambers: The social, the economic, and the environmental chamber. This structure is used for both the global FSC organization and the local National Initiatives.

DEVELOPMENT OF FSC STANDARDS

FSC has developed a global forest management standard consisting of 10 principles with more than 50 criteria. At the regional or local level, indicators applicable for each criterion are developed. Indicators may vary geographically according to the local conditions. All FSC certified operations must comply with these indicators, which ensures that they also comply with the global standards.

system involvement

NEPCon has an active approach to our involvement with FSC certification, and we provide the system with feedback based on our extensive application of the certification standards. For more than 10 years, we have been active participants in the development of the FSC system at global, regional, and local level. For example, NEPCon is represented in global FSC working groups, and we have participated in the development of local or regional FSC standards covering 10 countries.
