Get certified

Do you need a controlled wood certificate?

If your production processes or practice make it very difficult or costly to maintain physical separation of certified material throughout the production, you will probably benefit from using one of the mixed production options, where certified and non-certified materials can be mixed.

This means that you will implement either the "credit" or the "percentage" system. In this case, it is required that all the non-certified material shall be controlled and thus you need to also implement the CW system together with your CoC system.

If you are considering to get an FSC chain of custody certificate, it may be relevant for your company to apply for a combined CoC/CW certificate, depending on demands in your specific sector. Controlled Wood certification, enabling your company to selll materials with the controlled wood claim, may only be obtained in conjunction with an FSC Chain of Custody certificate.

If your company already has an FSC Chain of Custody certificate, you may consider the value of adding CW certification to your portfolio.

increasing demands for fsc controlled wood

Controlled wood is important in the FSC system because it can be included in FSC-certified ’mixed sources’ products, in which only a part of the product is made from FSC-certified wood. In many cases, lack of sufficient supplies of 100% FSC-certified wood has created a demand for FSC controlled wood.

Controlled wood certification does not allow the certified company to use the FSC logo, but enables your operation to forward the Controlled Wood claim to FSC certified buyers who are using the material for mixing it with certified material in certified products.
