DHL Express in Poland set to use FSC certified envelopes
10 December 2007
The leading provider of logistics and courier services in Poland, DHL Express, is starting to use envelopes carrying the prestigious FSC logo. Its supplier of printed envelopes, the printing house Inferior has received an FSC certificate. Simultaneously the paper supplier of Inferior, KTS, has obtained FSC certification and is thus able to deliver the FSC certified paper necessary for the production of the envelopes. Both certificates were issued by the Rainforest Alliance, based on chain of custody assessments performed by NEPCon.
The decisions made by Inferior and KTS to apply for FSC certification were prompted by demands from DHL Express. Inferior produces all of the envelopes distributed by DHL Express - more than 1.3 million envelopes per year. Soon, all of those envelopes will be FSC-certified. Inferior is the first printing company in Poland to receive an FSC certificate. Director of NEPCon in Poland Andrzej Czech comments: “I believe that this is one among several signs that a wave of FSC certification of the paper sector in Poland is on its way”. Czech welcomes the approach by DHL Express to work with its suppliers on certification.
Izabella Dessoulavy-Gładysz, Marketing Communication and PR Manager of DHL in Poland, comments: „We are deeply concerned about our impact on the environment, and during the past more than five years we have implemented an environmental management program. Introducing FSC certified envelopes is a part of these efforts.”
With several hundred thousand employees worldwide, the international DHL concern is a global market leader in international and domestic express, overland transport and air freight. The concern is wholly owned by Deutsche Post World Net.
The FSC certificate code of the printing house INFERIOR Ryszard Zaporski, Edyta Zaporska is SW-COC-002732.
The FSC certificate code of the paper supplier KTS SA is SW-COC-002731.
